Is it worn bores? Don't waste your money on liners until you know for certain!Punch press hole quality and tool life are dependent on the rigidity and proper alignment between punch and die. Problems can be very costly with; worn & broken tooling, reworked parts and deburring operations. And, it's important to find the exact cause before spending even more money on unnecessary repairs.
A detailed turret inspection is the first step in determining exactly where the problems are. Causes can range from worn index pins & bushings, defective tooling or holders, machine level or misalignments, or sometimes … worn upper turret bores.
Frankly, most inspections identify problems other than worn bores. But, during the inspection, if it is determined to be necessary, the AMI Field Engineer will measure each suspect bore with an electronic dial bore gauge so that you will have accurate data from which to base your decision. For worn upper bores on most Amada, Wiedemann and Murata turret punch presses, a replaceable steel sleeve can be installed after machining the worn bore precisely to the original centerline. A new liner is then locked into position restoring turret rigidity and alignment. And, Turret Sleeving can be completed on-site, without removing the turret from the machine.
